We have been in direct contact with the regional manager of Johannesburg water who has sent us an update of the water situation. The numerous reports we received from individuals about the burst pipe on William Nicol seems to be incorrect and not the reason for all the areas that are affected.
Received from JHB Water Regional Manager:
“There are two different shutdowns in the area. The first is the planned shutdown for Steyn City. The only customers that should be affected is Steyn city and parts of Farmall. Customers living in Cedar Lakes, Cedar Creek etc were affected because of the closed valve that was found in Cedar Creek. The valve has been opened and the customers in these areas now have water. Tomorrow’s Emergency Shutdown is for Zandfontein depot. They have a burst at Oak and Swallow in Fourways. We will be closing the water at cnr Campbell and Willow. Customers in Craigavon, Maroeladal and the Life hospital will be affected.”
