IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Thursday 26 October 2017 (2:30pm)
Fourways Mall Centre Management can confirm that an incident of taxi violence took place at approximately 13:30 today (Thursday 26th October 2017) on Fourways Boulevard, adjacent to the centre, it is alleged to have been between two conflicting taxi associations. The SAPS and CPF were on the scene within minutes to control the situation, as well as Mall security and the armed response unit. Several arrests have been made, and there is an investigation currently going on. Fourways Boulevard is currently partially closed, but access remains open to the mall via Ruby Close and Percy Street.
There was no internal robbery or shoot out that took place (as reported on social media), and the mall is open and trading as normal. Centre Management is in communication with the SAPS, the Northern Taxi Liaison Committee as well as the relevant authorities and is cooperating, and assisting where necessary.
