A local resident Vicki Hiscox posted the following to I Love Fourways…

“Good morning Family, I am looking for anyone who has got crochet needles that they would like to donate? They have to be 3.00MM. Gladys goes through so many due to her crocheting Mats and bags from Plastic. If you have that particular size needle (IT HAS TO BE THAT SIZE) This is what she uses them for: Hoping some one can help. Please whatsapp me on 072 025 0931.”

Naturally, after being blow away by Makhosazane Sekgwama from R O S A Handmade in SA who has a similar style in crocheting products, this lady’s work caught my eye and I immediately contacted Vicki and asked her for more details…

In the mean time, I chatted to Cedar Square Shopping Centre who have offered to sponsor a market stand at the next Cedar Square Slow market for Gladys to show case her work and create a bit of a name for herself.

This incredible crafts woman is so passionate about what she is doing and I believe not only because her products are beautifully hand made but also because she is making use of single use plastics and turning them into something great instead of them being another bit of added pollution to our planet! A total win win and such a stunning gift, especially for international guests or family – The prices are ridiculous too! Keep a look out for Gladys at the Cedar Square market! We will let you know when she will be there!

PS – PLEASE donate any clean plastic bags you’ve got! Chat to Vicki via Whatsapp number above!
