Junior Jive Music and Movement programme is an authentically South African Programme where we focus on preparing the children for their future, by developing cognitive, social and emotional skills, through the medium of music and movement. Our programme starts from 4 months old right through to Grade R and can be offered at schools as an extra mural activity or as part of the school curriculum.

Junior Jive is specifically educationally based and focuses its activities on the development of the different age groups. The curriculum is written by a qualified educator with over 20 year’s-experience and the Junior Jive classes are presented by specialist Junior Jive teachers.

Each term the curriculum explores a different theme. During our classes, children play various percussion instruments (maracitos, egg shakers, claves, bells, Zulu drums) along to the songs we sing and are introduced to basic music concepts (high & low tone, music terms, pace). In this forum, the focus is on educating through music and movement and cultivating a love for both, as opposed to formal music training in a specific instrument.

Children learn through movement and enjoy music – that is why we use these two mediums as our learning tools. We also focus on singing as a skill in order to teach the children their inner voice. Our programme is comprehensive and focuses on each developmental stage, while sharing the joy of music with our precious children!
