International teacher trainer, Len Tyler, will be coming to South Africa to deliver our Junior Jive workshops in Johannesburg and Cape Town. He will be presenting a hands-on, full day workshop on the use of the Kodaly approach to music education with a focus on Preschool (early years) and Primary classroom work.
brief presentation of the main principles of Kodaly work
tried and tested songs, routines and music games that deliver quality music education in a fun way based Kodaly principles
strategies for improving pitch matching, tuning and musical balance
routines that deliver basic music literacy in a child friendly way
All songs and routines are non-copyright so will be sent out as a resource. There will also be examples of simple resources that are very easy to make or to download for free, including over 80 rhythm flash cards.
While there is no need to be a music reader to gain from this training, there will be plenty for the music specialist. There will also be a strand for teachers that are interested in the Kodaly principles and how they would apply to instrumental teaching in a one to one or group situation.
