Amanda’s Wholefoods is a small family run business that came into being almost two years ago. It is run entirely by myself, Amanda and my husband Silvino with a little help from time to time from our two teenagers.

We are based in Barbeque Downs which is a small suburb that borders on Sunninghill and Kyalami.

We have always had a passion for good healthy, wholesome foods and a healthy lifestyle.

With family based in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, we have been very fortunate to have access to these exact products straight from the farms.

We saw an opportunity two years back to bring some of the healthy food options back with us to share with our local community.

From initially offering just blueberries straight from Tzaneen, we started to add on other produce like avos, dried mango, litchis, mangoes, nuts and pickles to the list which are all grown within the Limpopo and Mpumalanga regions.

Our customers loved what we were offering and enjoyed collecting their produce orders directly from us. We have also recently started offering a delivery option each Thursday to a number of suburbs in the north of Johannesburg.

The interest and support received has grown immensely and so too have the requests for more and more local products.

We now source a range of products from farms, suppliers and small South African businesses and by doing so, not only are we supporting our own family but that of a number of others too.

Some of our most popular products include free range, antibiotic free eggs from Kristy, pure raw honey by Oom Wouter and Chris, pure peanut butters, cookie dough and granola from Rhona, vegan granola from Lisa, sauces, rusks and jams from Zuzanna, blueberries from Henry, traditional homemade fudge from Charlene, sourdough breads and pastries from Avinesh, handmade popsicles from Popco, raspberries and other frozen fruits from Mama Lungi and organic fruit and veg boxes from Dorcas and Joel.

Each month we try to add on more products and in doing so not only do we create an interesting product list, but in tern offer new local suppliers the opportunity to showcase their wholesome product offerings.

We did not avoid the effects of Covid 19 this year and have dealt with retrenchment and job loss as a family too. However, the support from the local community has been nothing less than phenomenal and has brought us through this challenging time.

We pride ourselves on offering exceptional quality and well-priced items and can give the assurance that if a product is not good enough for our own family to consume, then it will not make it onto our list!

Our vision is to continue to provide the community with wholesome products through our own passion for excellence and the love and belief we have in what we do.
